Poster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history and design of posters. Posters offer a unique insight into the intersection of art, design, politics, and commerce, and provide a powerful basis for teaching about visual literacy. The museum opened in the Flatiron/Chelsea neighborhood in 2019, and hosts temporary, rotating exhibitions alongside its permanent collection. Beyond general admission, guests can access the museum through its Education Department, serving all ages, as well as its robust weekly programming. To date, Poster House has showcased subjects as varied as Art Nouveau designer Alphonse Mucha, Black Panther Party graphics, Swiss Modernism, Soviet film posters, one hundred years of Chinese advertising, and a history of global environmental activism.
